                                  SPA Music Therapy

                                       Bai Jing

SPA Fragrance Therapy relaxes people’s body by sweet scent, while SPA music therapy cures people’s mental wounds by music.

We feel bright and sunny now, being flushed with success; we feel low and grey then, gloomy and depressed. Please open your heart and let music reside in. It will soothe your injured soul, relieve your pressure and heal your wounds.

Melancholy

When the melancholy descends silently, your life is fading its color and the flower of life starts to wither. Eventually, you sink into a state of boundless and endless chaos. Even struggle is of no avail. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the music genius, can ignite the gorgeousness of your life with Serenade No.13 in G Major.

On an autumn day, the sky is high and clear with scattered white clouds. You and your friends go for an outing by a carriage. The horseshoes are light and so is your heart. The carriage enters the cool woods. Through gaps between the leaves, the sun casts golden rays on your happy faces. Crossing a brook swiftly, the carriage splashes a mist of crystal. Finally it arrives at verdant grassland. Ushering your lovely companion from the carriage, spreading a table cloth in cabbage patch pattern, you enjoy wine, fruits and sandwiches and dance with the friends pleasantly.

The composition, bright and lively, is like a little red fish jumping into the clear water, drawing fine ripples. Your grey life begins to resume its color. Do you feel that your melancholy is drawing back and disappears like fog after sunrise?

Tension

When life and work fire continuous shells towards you, you can hardly deal with them. To make things worse, they grow to a heavy hill overwhelming you. Feeling suffocated, you cannot breath. Just at this time, Johann Sebastian Bach, Father of Music, offers you his Minuet in G Major.

Opening the inlaid colored glass door, you come to a brilliantly illuminated ballroom. The well-dressed and dignified gentlemen and ladies talk elegantly and behave decently, though big in number, making no noise and disorder. In the middle, several couples are dancing. Among the rest, some are standing composedly; some are lounging on the sofa; some are chatting and laughing gently in twos and threes. All of a sudden, you find a beautiful and charming partner, walk forward unhurriedly and extend invitation humbly. The partner, with her eyes lowered, gives her fair hand. You walk through the crowd and dance a minuet. Gentle steps; graceful figure; quick whirl; flying skirt. Now you are intoxicated in the soft melody, oblivious of yourself. At the end of the dance, you bow deeply to thank your partner.

The light and beautiful music whisks the dust off your life, taking you to a pure land, where music cleans your soul and gives you a delighted heart. Then you find every burden is but a paragraph of your life book.

Anger

Sometimes anger occupies your heart, as a furious elephant dashing around madly, as uncontrollable waves rushing in a rage. Now Ludwig van Beethoven, giant of music, will teach you how to contain it. Please listen to Symphony No. 6 in F Major, “Pastorale”.

The first movement: the bouncy music of the strings brings you to the vast wilds with refresh breeze and rolling green waves. The colorful wild flowers show themselves when the grass is blown down by the wind, which carries the scent of flowers. Riding on a fine horse, you hang around the pasture. On the lush grassland, the plump and sturdy cattle and sheep are eating grass freely; horses without saddle and bit are loafing about. Passing yellow and green patches of crops, which are divided neatly, you come to the village with small and low farmhouses. Where your horse runs quickly, ducks and chickens are flying around. Some villagers stop their work, gazing at the stranger surprisedly; some greet with hat smilingly. Finally, you arrive at a magnificent manor. The dense trees set off the tall building. People inside the manor are busy transporting the cereals and driving the livestock. Climbing up the terrace and looking around, you get a panoramic view of the beautiful scenery.

The second movement: at your spare time after work, you come to the glittering brook, which is so clear that you can see to the bottom. It is like whispers when flowing slowly; like chasing and sporting when running amidst the stones, making spray now and then. A bird is tweeting at the branch, others echoing with. The nightingale, quail and cuckoo all show off their singing skills. It is indeed a singing competition for birds. Lying on your back beside the brook, listening to its murmur, you are intoxicated with the scene of the bird singing and flowers giving forth fragrance.

The third to fourth movement: people from every corner take part in the country gathering. The crowd converges into a big circle on the grassland. With happily dancing people, the atmosphere runs warmer and warmer. Just at the time, dark clouds gather, becoming thicker and thicker. A silvery lightening flashes across the sky and a sudden gale rises. The crowd disperses. A nestle in the tree sways in the wind. The female bird does all she can to protect her children. More and more frequently it thunders. Eventually a heavy rain pours down. Immediately the earth is dusky and dim; the earth merges with the sky ……

The fifth movement: the mild rhythm naturally brings the music to the fifth movement. The rain stops and the wind comes to a halt. The sun shows half face behind the clouds. The last raindrop fells off the leaves. A rainbow appears in the sky. With spirits rising, the people leave their shelters one after another, gather again and sing heartily under myriads of rays to thank the heaven, who bestows on people not only the sunlight, rain and dew, but also the harmony and peacefulness.

The great symphony, which depicts an imaginary land of peace, away from the turmoil of the world, is full of deep love for life and nature. In Beethoven’s rich but pure pastoral music, the storm sweeps away your rage. Now do you calm down as the clear weather after rain?

Pain

Although we are reluctant, sometimes we have to suffer from the pain. A life without pain is not a real life. When the pain nibbles at your heart, corrodes your life and winds round you as a python, you are trapped in the swamp, losing the desire to live. Let music ignite the lamp of your life. I invite you to dance Waltz of the Flowers from The Nutcracker by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

Now you are Clara. Please come to the fantastic kingdom of the sweets with Prince of the Nutcracker and be a guest for the Sugar Plum Fairy’s banquet. Under the background of the clarinet, the harp as flowing water exhibits before you: early morning, the fairies wake up from sweet dreams and stretch their limbs. A little elf blows the horn of calling. The fairies come from all directions and dance together trippingly. Supple and graceful is their carriage; slim and light are their nimble legs; fluttering are their dreamy skirts; glistening are their silvery transparent wings. The Sugar Plum Fairy with flower crown casts flowers to the air. The happy atmosphere grows stronger and stronger. All the people join the dancing group, enjoying a sea of happiness.

After a Waltz of the Flowers, you have taken a magic drug. Beauty and joy ease your heart. Your wounds start getting cured and your long stiff body is recovering. With pain leaving, the seed of happiness begins to sprout in the field of your heart.

Utter Joy

Lastly, please listen to Moto Perpetuo by Nicolo Paganini and let happiness fill in each of your nerves. The joy attacks you unexpectedly from behind and embraces you closely. You have no chance to escape, but forget everything and let yourself fall into the whirlpool of infinite joy……
